A hard reset (factory reset) can breathe new life into your JBL Charge 6 speaker by clearing paired devices, resolving persistent Bluetooth or firmware glitches, and restoring all settings back to their defaults.
If you’ve tried soft resets and firmware updates without success, a hard reset is your next best troubleshooting step. Follow this guide for a safe, step-by-step process.
Ensure your Charge 6 has at least 20% battery, or leave it plugged into a charger during the process, which takes around 3–5 seconds of continuous button press.

Hard Reset JBL Charge 6
To start, press the Power button to turn your JBL Charge 6 on. Confirm that the LED indicator lights up. Press and hold the Volume Up (+) and Play/Pause buttons simultaneously. Continue holding for 3–5 seconds.

All the LED lights will flash on, then the speaker will turn off automatically, accompanied by the turn off sound. This sequence indicates the reset command has been registered.

After powering off, press the Power button again to turn the speaker back on. Listen for the startup & pairing chimes—this confirms the Charge 6 has rebooted with factory settings.
You can now re-pair your devices. Simply open your smartphone or tablet’s Bluetooth settings, search for JBL Charge 6, and pair as you did during first use.
After the Reset
Factory Defaults Restored: All EQ settings revert to Neutral, and Bluetooth passkeys are cleared.
Firmware Version Remains: A reset does not roll back firmware—the latest installed version stays intact.
Reconfigure Preferences: You’ll need to reassign any Auracast pairings or customize EQ settings again.
